1 - In which language is/will IDA be available?
IDA is available in Englsih, Spanish and French.
2 - Can I integrate data from IDA into my local database and vice versa?
IDA is using XML files to exchange data, so it is very easy to import or export information once you have the XSD file and the IDA DataExchange document.
This document is available on the website. Go to the menu “Documentation”. Click on “Functional and Technical documentation”.
3 - Is IDA only for audiovisual works?
Yes it is.
4 - What is MANTIS?
Mantis is our bug tracker and we use it also to allow our users to propose evolutions.

5 - In what format can I exchange information with IDA?
You can exchange information with IDA in XML file. See the IDADataExchange document available on the CISAC website and on the IDA communication space (this web site).
6 - How many works can I upload at the same time in IDA?
It depends more of the size of the xml import file. It’s recommended not to exceed the size of 100 megabytes (unzipped) for each single file imported. (20 000 – 30 000 works).
7 - Is the number of users for a society limited?
No limit is set. It’s recommended though to have a general access fore consulting and just a few profiles for “write access”.
8 - Who do I contact if I have questions concerning IDA?

9 - How can I make suggestions for evolutions in IDA?
You can make suggestion on Mantis http://www.ida-net.org/mantis/, in the suggestion project.
Mantis can be access with your login/password from the IDATeam.
10 - What’s the annual cost for using IDA?
The financial conditions for IDA memberships are listed in the IDA internal rules.

11 - Is it necessary to be a member of CISAC to use IDA?
Yes it is.
12 - How to become an IDA user?
- As a CISAC member, you can consult works for free
- Another option is to consult and use IDA for distribution purposes
- Finally you can contribute to the database (upload, download information) – having all accesses
13 - How does IDA retrieve information from the ISAN database?
IDA is making a XML export file for the works ISANless and imports it into ISAN database. ISAN is making the matching and, if there are results, sending the retrieved ISAN numbers to IDA.
14 - Do I need to register all my works in ISAN before uploading in IDA?
No, this is not necessary. IDA is matching periodically new imported works with ISAN to retrieve eventual missing ISAN number. IDA will repeat the matching until the work has got one.
15 - Do I need to be in IPI to use IDA?
You have to register right owners in IPI in order to insert work into IDA. Right owners must have an IPI reference.
16 - Is it possible to manage orphan versions in IDA? How?
No. It is not allowed for the time being
17 - What are the main functionalities in IDA?
- Import, update and complete information on already registered AV works
- Delete information on an AV work (according to the IDA working rules)
- Multi-criteria search: production year/country/language, authors and societies
- Consult search results: Display results – global results and detailed
- IPI link
- ISAN link: Matching IDA-ISAN
- Print the results
- Import the results from IDA to your database (different formats)
18 - What kind of information on audiovisual works and its owners is mandatory in IDA?

19 - Can I put the local title of a work in IDA?
Yes you can. Also IDA will generate a standard title for each of your titles and both will be displayed. There is no limit for the numbers of title of the work, but there can only be ONE Main title/Original title and this title should be in the original language.
20 - What’s considered as a duplicate in IDA?
A work is considered duplicate in IDA when a certain number of fields are the same. (title, subtitle, right owners, etc) – Donne les champs exacts

21 - Are duplicates managed by IDA?
IDA detects duplicates automatically. An interface in IDA allows the user to manage those duplicates.

IDA is able to detect automatically duplicates. An interface in IDA allows the user to manage those duplicates. See the user for more information.
25 - What’s a right owner?
A right owner is an author who earns rights when the work is broadcast.
26 - How can I manage my login, passwords and e-mail in IDA?
You can directly manage your account in IDA, just click on the "user profile" link on the bottom of the IDA website. If you want to remove or create new accounts, contact us here.
27 - How do I access and connect to IDA?
Go to www.ida-net.org (this web site), choose an environment and click on “GO” (on the homepage in the lower part of the page on the left).
Enter your login, password and choose the language. Then click on GO.
28 - What are the different user-profiles and access rights in IDA?
- Consulting user 'light profile'
The user can only consult and print works

- Consulting User
The user can consult works in IDA. He can also print, export, and go to the reporting pages.

- Controller
This user can import/modify/delete/export works, consult works , manage duplicates, see the reporting pages and the ISAN imports.

- IDA administrator
The user can manage the global parameters of the IDA website and have full rights regarding works and imports.
29 - Is IDA compatible with other browsers than Internet Explorer 6.0.and higher?
It is possible to use Mozilla firefox and other browsers, but the IDA website was optimized only for IE.
30 - Is it possible to navigate (back and next) in IDA with my internet-browser?
It is possible but we do not recommend to do so. It can provoke crashes and bugs.
31 - Can I transfer exported data from IDA to an Excel-file?
You can open XML documents with Microsoft Excel.
32 - Are their different XML-files for different actions in IDA?
For each action, you have a specific XSD format. You can download the IDAWorkExchange document to have all the details. Go to documentation -> Functional and Technical

33 - How do I use the XSD-file?
An XML Schema Definition (XSD) is an instance of an XML schema written in XML Schema. An XSD defines a type of XML document in terms of constraints upon what elements and attributes may appear, their relationship to each other, what types of data may be in them, and other things. It can be used with validation software in order to ascertain whether a particular XML document is of that type.
Download a XML sofware to validate XML files (XMLSpy for example).
34 - What does “FTP” mean?
File access protocol. It is a used to handle file download and file upload. To access a FTP server, use a client FTP software like Filezilla ((http://www.filezilla-project.org/)
35 - If my mass-import (registration of works or update) is blocked/waiting what should I do?
