IDA

When the distribution basis is 100% per role, the weighting between the different roles is not provided by IDA. When the work is broadcast, the CMO from the broadcasting country shall apply its own rules to determine how to weight the roles. If a CMO only represent one of the roles, it only takes into consideration this role.
In your example from below:

  • If the work is broadcast (for example) in the UK, Directors’UK would only take into consideration the RE role, and ignore the AS and SDC roles.
  • If the work is broadcast in France, SACD will take into consideration the RE, AS, and SDC roles and apply its own distribution rules to separate the royalties collected to attribute them to each role. The split between roles is not necessarily equal, it depends on the rules of each CMO.

SDC100CEPPI ASTUDILLO20

NOEL20

The fact that each role sums 100% does not result in a conflict (as long as the total per role ≤100%) but it implies that the balance between all the roles is decided by the CMO that collects and distributes the royalties.

However, this option enables to register works with authors from different CMOs where the rules of sharing are different. It is more flexible. Example: ATN considers that the text category should be split AS= 50, SDC = 50; whereas SACD considers that AS=90, SDC=10. This option enables us not to create a conflict, but to allow each CMO to apply its own rules.

When the distribution basis is 100% per category, the weighting among the different roles within a category is provided by IDA. If we take your example below, RE has its own category. AS and SDC both belong to the TXT category.

If the weight is equal, then the work would be registered as follows:

Category%Role%Author% within role (each role = 100)% within category (each category = 100)
TXT100AS50CEPPI ASTUDILLO3015 = 50*30/100
BLEYCHER SANDOVAL7035
SDC50CEPPI ASTUDILLO2010
BLEYCHER SANDOVAL2010
LOUIT NEVISTIC2010
NOEL2010
HUGO2010

If the weight is 10% for SDC / 90% for AS (as SACD would do according to our rules), then the work would be registered as follows:

Category%Role%Author% within role (each role = 100)% within category (each category = 100)
TXT100AS90CEPPI ASTUDILLO3027 = 90*30/100
BLEYCHER SANDOVAL7063
SDC10CEPPI ASTUDILLO202
BLEYCHER SANDOVAL202
LOUIT NEVISTIC202
NOEL202
HUGO202

This option gives more precise information but it is more strict: it obliges all the registering CMOs to agree on the weighting between the different roles. In my example below, if some of the authors would be registered by SACD and others by ATN, it would be impossible to register the work 100% per category without creating a conflict.

Correspondence roles/categories

The nomenclature gives you the correspondence between roles in IDA, categories in IDA and roles in IPI: tab STD_ROLES_CATEGORIES. According to this document, SDC role in IDA corresponds to AS role in IPI so you do not need to register WP in IPI.

However, for APW (author of the pre-existing work) indeed it could be necessary to register WP role in IPI
