You should add the shorter episode like any episode,

you specify the the duration,

you may have to adapt, the rights owners’s shares in case there are two different directors on each episode ?

you link the new work to the current master, it changes the status of the work from Unitary work to Episode

you link the new episode to its original work by following the below instructions:

You open the page of the work (the one that we will change as a version –work)

You navigate through the links section

You click the Add a link button

You enter the IDA Reference of the original work

You select “is a version of” in the drop down menu

You select “national” in the drop down menu

You click the save button

You refresh your page display through your browser

You should now see that the type of work has changed for episode / version

You should also see the added link in the links section

You should see the trace of the action in the log section 😊

You can now navigate through the original work page,  by clicking on the title of the original work, from the Links section

You will see that the work has kept its episode | original type

And that it shows the version link in the Links section as well as the trace of the action in the Logs section

You can also proceed the other way around, meaning you open the original work, and you add version to

From the work page, go to the Links section and click on the All link button

Enter the IDA Reference of the version work and select the “Is the original work of” menu item and then press the save button

You should see the update straight away, or you should refresh your page browser to see that the action has been registered in the Links and Logs sections

You can check the new work type of the work version, by clicking on the title of the newly added link from the Links section

You can see that the work type has changed for Episode | Version and that the Links and Logs sections have been updated too, like on the original work.

You should end up with a situation like below

Both works being linked to the same master
